tara c. perkins | director of public relations
postscript's ambassador | Tara joined the PostScript team as the Director of Public Relations, working as a copywriter for articles, press releases, ad campaigns and brochures, as well as a media liaison for clients. She is known for her keen ability to work with all types of clients, her unique skill to intuitively assess what her clients’ needs are, and to communicate them in a precise manner. Tara enjoys meeting new people, learning about organizations’ goals, and constructing creative solutions to challenges.
Formerly, Tara was a licensed stockbroker in both the New York City and Washington D.C. areas, when she 'changed things up' in her professional life to focus on the performing arts. Tara was hired as Assistant Marketing Manager/Graphic Designer for SCA's Rich Forum and Palace Theatre. Having relocated to Vermont in 1999, she accepted the position of Director of Marketing and Development for the Burlington Discover Jazz Festival, where she revamped the website and the marketing, design and PR approach of the organization, as well as acquired new sponsorship. Tara was also Associate Director of the Vermont Mozart Festival, where she was responsible for public relations, marketing and management of the volunteers.
Tara studied liberal arts, voice, music, and dance at SUNY Purchase College, graduating with a BA in political science. She has performed as a vocalist with Judy Collins, the Burlington Community Choir, Peggy Stern, Vishnu Wood and the Purchase College Jazz Choir; she has participated in many dance and film projects. Tara enjoys working summer weekends as a Production Assistant for music concerts and festivals. Her interests include music, travel, culture, language, medical and weather science, non-fiction, writing, animals, and the beautiful Vermont outdoors.
