Copy Cats

Although imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, too often in advertising there are copy cats. Remember the television ads that had the cell phone bars above peoples’ heads? Afterward, all sorts of products floated above the characters’ heads to indicate they had whatever product.
But sometimes, copying an agency’s idea is a good thing! Here’s an idea we’d like you to copy. Let your employees pay for the privilege of wearing blue jeans and then donate the money to a non-profit organization. Your employees are happy and comfortable, and your company is giving back to the community.
At PostScript, we can wear blue jeans any day we choose, not just on ‘dress-down Fridays,’ simply by dropping a dollar to the donation ‘bucket.’ Because we’re small, we wouldn’t raise enough money if we limited the days. We trade jeans for shorts in the summer to keep the donations flowing. Because we’re dog and cat crazy, we chose the Humane Society of Chittenden County to be our pet organization (pun intended). Last year employees wore blue jeans 193 times.
Doesn’t seem like much? Consider this:
- $50 will vaccinate 20 dogs against canine distemper (so, $193 vaccinated as many as 80 dogs!); or
- $100 will pay for 3 cats to be spayed or neutered (so about 6 cats) which will prevent dozens of unnecessary kitty births; or,
- $193 will feed the entire facility for one whole (albeit slow) week.
Won’t you consider being a copy cat?
